Year Here is a platform for young professionals who want to build smart responses to social problems.
Over one year, our Fellows learn from, and design with, people hit hardest by inequality – and go on to found some of the most promising social impact startups in the country.
Applications are currently open for Specialist Fellowships programme (starting in February 2018) until 7th January. Specialist Fellowships are for applicants with experience in design, tech, commerce or on the frontline.
ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP
Supported by a network including The Cabinet Office, Bain & Co, and Nesta – if selected, you will:
Learn at the frontline.
Your first 5 months will be spent in homeless shelters, care homes and community centres, learning first-hand from the people at the frontline of inequality – and designing innovative measures to boost your placement’s impact.
Learn from expert faculty.
You’ll be assigned a personal mentor and receive extensive training from a faculty of more than 70 leaders from across the social innovation field – people who specialise in everything from entrepreneurship to government policy, and from community development to service design.
You’ll build your own projects from the get-go – from frontline innovations to startup social ventures. A third of our alumni run a social business that they founded during the programme.
Find your people
You’ll spend a lot of time with Year Here’s team and faculty, and other Fellows and Alumni; these will become your support network, collaborators and co-founders. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing movement of entrepreneurs and activists.

BEYOND YEAR HERE
In a year’s time, we expect you to be running your own social enterprise, for a fast-growing social start-up or forging an exciting portfolio of careers.
96% of our Fellows are in paid employment within three months of graduating from Year Here. A year after graduating, 32% run their own social venture, 48% work for another social enterprise or charity, and the remainder work in government, innovation, frontline or private sector roles.
Our alumni have founded 18 social ventures including Settle, supporting vulnerable young people who are moving into their first home and Birdsong, an fashion brand selling clothes made by vulnerable women – and ploughing its profits back into the women’s charities who support them.
